Advent of Alpha Day 21: Getting Under Betting Limits

What’s the minimum stake you can lay or back on the exchange in the UK?

The web interface insists on a backer’s stake of £1. It used to be £2. You can do better.

An SP bet has to have a lay liability of £10, meaning that at laying at odds of 1000 you can have a backer’s stake of just 1p.

On the API you can bet to a target size (not supported by flumine), of £10 liability or payout regardless of bet size: the minimum is £10 target, you choose how the API assesses your size.

However, payouts of £10 are honoured by the API regardless of any other consideration, and these are workable with flumine, so you can lay a 50p stake with payout of £10 at odds of 20.0 with no weird maths: you just lay at 50p at odds of 20.0 and it will go in.

This doesn’t feel like alpha, except it’s hidden from most users, only available to API users, and means when you’re dealing with kelly and other bet sizing you can do things with smaller banks than people who are using the web interface.

If you can’t find a way to help you enhance your strategies with this, I can’t help you.
